What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format Apple introduced with iOS 11. It stores images at roughly half the file size of an equivalent JPG, which is great for saving storage space on your iPhone.

The problem: plenty of software still can't read it. Windows photo viewers, many websites, CMS platforms, older Android devices and most online forms expect JPG or PNG. Converting HEIC to JPG makes your photos universally compatible — at the small cost of a slightly larger file.

This tool converts HEIC and HEIF files to high-quality JPG (92% quality) entirely on your own device, so even sensitive or personal photos stay private.

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It offers better compression than JPG, but many programs and websites can't open it directly.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, no daily limits. The site is supported by ads.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Yes — drop as many as you like, then download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.

Why did my file fail to convert?

Usually the file is corrupted or isn't actually a HEIC (sometimes JPGs get renamed to .heic). An outdated browser can also be the cause — try the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari.
